Three million children in Afghanistan will be vaccinated against polio
The Afghan Ministry of Public Health says it is working on a program that will vaccinate three million children
Noorullah Taraki, a spokesman for the Ministry of Public Health, told to radio Azadi that they were trying to enlist the support of religious scholars in implementing the polio vaccine
He added that the Ministry of Public Health will launch more teams by strengthening working groups and increasing staff and the amount of polio vaccine, and in cooperation with the Ministry of Hajj and Endowments, will hold meetings with preachers and elders in mosques
In 2019, a total of 29 positive cases of polio were recorded in Afghanistan, but this number has increased by 56 positive cases in 2020, which is the highest number since 2001, and most of these events were in insecure provinces of Afghanistan.
