Former US Ambassador to Islamabad: Pakistan has pursued a two-pronged policy

The former US ambassador to Pakistan says Pakistan has won a political victory with the rise of the Taliban in Afghanistan and is now seeking recognition of the Taliban government in Afghanistan.
Richard Olson, the former US ambassador to Islamabad, has accused Pakistan of collaborating with the United States in the fight against terrorism by pursuing an ostensibly two-pronged policy and secretly harboring and providing equipment to terrorist groups.
He emphasized that Pakistan’s regional policies had prevailed with the rise of the Taliban, adding that Pakistan was now encouraging the world to recognize the Taliban government in Afghanistan.
But so far the new Taliban government in Afghanistan has not been recognized by any country.
