Pakistan Army: Border enclosure with Afghanistan continues

The Pakistani military has announced that fencing will continue on its border with Afghanistan.
According to Sputnik, Babur Iftikhar, director general of the Pakistan Army’s public relations, told a news conference in Rawalpindi yesterday that the 94 per cent border fence between Afghanistan and Pakistan had been completed and the rest would be completed soon.
“But we are very focused and the work that has started under the management of the western borders will come to a logical end,” he said.
“There is full coordination between the two sides of the border,” he said, adding that “to prevent saboteurs, these specific incidents in the region must be resolved with patience.”
Recently, however, some tensions arose between the two sides as a result of the Taliban’s demolition of the Pakistani border fence in Durand.
The Taliban Foreign Ministry later announced that officials on both sides had decided to resolve the issue through dialogue.
