The beginning of the Ukraine-Russia war; Putin ordered military operations in eastern Ukraine

The Russian president has ordered military operations in eastern Ukraine, and Russian forces have landed on the country’s shores and fired rockets at several cities.
According to Reuters, explosions were heard in Kiev, the capital of Ukraine, today, Thursday, after a speech by Russian President Vladimir Putin on state television.
In his speech, Putin instructed Russian forces to protect the people and called on Ukrainian forces to lay down their arms.
However, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kolba confirmed the news in a tweet: “Putin has just launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine. “Peaceful cities in Ukraine are under attack.”
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelinsky has also said that Russia has launched missile strikes on Ukrainian infrastructure and border guards, and that explosions have been heard in many cities.
Some Ukrainian officials have also reported Russian cyber-attacks on the country.
The Interfax news agency reported that gunfire erupted near the main airport in the Ukrainian capital, Kiev, and that alarm bells rang throughout the city.
Following the tensions between Russia and Ukraine, the UN Security Council is scheduled to hold an emergency meeting today, Thursday, to review Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
