Afghanistan is voting at the United Nations against Russian attacks on Ukraine

Following the escalation of tensions between Russia and Ukraine, Afghanistan’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations has announced that it will vote against Russia at the UN General Assembly.
In an interview with VOA, Nasir Ahmad Fayeq, Afghanistan’s permanent representative to the United Nations, said that Afghanistan opposes Russian aggression against Ukraine in accordance with the principles of international relations in the UN resolution.
“Russia’s attack on Ukraine is a clear violation of international law and the UN Charter, in which it respects the sovereignty and territorial integrity of states and refrains from threatening or using force against political independence, sovereignty and the rule of law,” Fayeq said. “A peaceful solution to the civil conflict is emphasized.”
He added: “Afghanistan, which has been affected by war, aggression and aggression by foreign powers and its people have experienced it, has always supported and called for respect for the principles of the UN Charter and a peaceful solution through dialogue and negotiation. “This position is, in fact, to protect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of small and large countries and to oppose military aggression.”
Meanwhile, the Taliban Foreign Ministry in Afghanistan recently issued a statement announcing that the Taliban are neutral in the war between Moscow and Ukraine.
“The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, based on its neutral foreign policy, calls on the warring parties to resolve the current crisis in Ukraine through dialogue and peace,” the ministry said in a statement.
