Iran summoned the charge d’affaires of the Afghan embassy in Tehran

In response to the attacks on the Iranian embassy in Kabul and the Iranian consulate in Herat, the Iranian Foreign Ministry summoned the charge d’affaires of the Afghan embassy in Tehran and protested against the attacks.
The Director General of South Asia of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran summoned the Chargé d’Affaires of the Afghan Embassy in Tehran, reminding the governments of their responsibility to ensure the security of diplomatic missions, and called for the attackers to be dealt with legally.
The Director General of South Asia of the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs also said that until further notice, the consular sections of the Iranian missions in Afghanistan have ceased their activities in order to provide the necessary assurance from Afghanistan for the full security of the Iranian missions.
Yesterday’s attacks on the Iranian embassy in Kabul and the Iranian consulate in Herat was done in response to published videos of persecution of Afghans in Iran, in which protesters hurled stones at the Iranian consulate in Herat and closed its entrance gate.
