Russia cooperates with other political groups in Afghanistan

Russia’s foreign minister says Moscow is ready to work with political parties in Afghanistan.

“Moscow is cooperating with other political forces in Afghanistan, including former President Hamid Karzai and former chairman of the Supreme National Reconciliation Council Abdullah Abdullah,” Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov was quoted as saying by Sputnik.

“They like to talk to the Taliban, and in our contacts with the Taliban, we encourage them to start and continue such a meaningful dialogue,” he added.

Russia has previously accepted a Taliban diplomat.
