EU Representative in Afghanistan: The solution to Afghanistan’s problems is to continue the talks

The EU Special Representative for Afghanistan said in a meeting with the Taliban Foreign Minister that the only solution to Afghanistan’s problems is to continue talks.

Taliban Foreign Ministry spokesman Abdul Qahar Balkhi tweeted that Acting Foreign Minister Amir Khan Mottaqi met today with Thomas Nicholson, the EU Special Representative for Afghanistan in Kabul.

He wrote that in this meeting, the EU Special Representative for Afghanistan shared his views on continuing efforts to improve the economic situation, education, providing safe working conditions for the people and security issues, and stressed that the only solution for  the problems of Afghanistan can be the continuation of the talks.

The acting Taliban Foreign Minister also pledged during the meeting that there would be no threat from Afghanistan to other countries.

During the meeting, both sides also stressed the need to further strengthen cooperation between Afghanistan and the European Union.
