US: If the Taliban’s recent order on women is not revoked, the pressure on the group will increase

US State Department spokesman said the US government would increase pressure on the Taliban if they did not repeal recent order to make hijab mandatory for women and girls in Afghanistan.
“We spoke directly with the Islamic Emirate about this,” State Department spokesman Ned Price was quoted as saying by Reuters. If these decisions do not change, we will use the facilities at our disposal.
A State Department spokesman added: “We have consulted with our allies and close associates. We will take steps to increase the pressure on the Islamic Emirate to reconsider its decisions and act on what it has promised.
He said the United States would work with other countries to increase pressure on the Taliban, but did not comment on the nature of the pressure.
The Taliban imposed severe restrictions on women and girls in Afghanistan after taking control.
In the most recent case, the Taliban’s Ministry of Promoting Virtue and Prohibiting Virtue issued a decree on women’s hijab stating that women should cover their faces in public places and that their parents would be punished if they violated them.
