The United States is concerned about the growing influence of ISIS in Afghanistan

The director of the US military intelligence service said in an interview that the activities, targeted attacks and the possibility of ISIL infiltrating Afghanistan were worrying.

“I am concerned about the Khorasan branch of ISIS in Afghanistan,” said Gen. Scott Breyer, director of the US military intelligence service. It is a fact that ISIL has been able to carry out deadly and catastrophic attacks in Afghanistan.

He added that the ISIL group has become more courageous since last year’s attack on Kabul airport and has gained significant resources and resources since the Taliban took control.

As for al-Qaeda, he said the group had not grown under Taliban rule and was having difficulty rebuilding its leadership, and to some extent the Taliban had kept their promise not to allow the group to operate again.

US officials have repeatedly expressed concern about the possible influence of ISIS and al-Qaeda after the Taliban took control of Afghanistan.
