Guterres: Terrorism is on the rise in Afghanistan

The UN Secretary-General says terrorism is being revived in Afghanistan and could be a major threat to the world.
Speaking at the International Conference on Human Rights, Civil Society and Counter-Terrorism in Spain, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said that terrorism is not just an attack on innocent people, but a comprehensive attack on human rights.
Guterres stressed that the spread of ISIS and al-Qaeda in Africa and the resurgence of terrorism in Afghanistan is a major threat to the world and is growing.
Increasing the influence and activity of ISIS and terrorist groups in Afghanistan is an issue that the United States and Afghanistan’s neighbors have repeatedly expressed concern about.
Recently, the director of the US military intelligence service said in an interview that the activities, targeted attacks and the possibility of ISIL infiltrating Afghanistan are worrying.
According to him, the ISIL group has become more courageous after the attack on Kabul airport last year and has gained significant people and resources after the Taliban took control.
But Taliban officials insist that terrorist groups do not have a physical presence on Afghan soil and do not pose a threat to other countries.
