The G7 group condemned restrictions imposed on women and girls by the Taliban

Seven industrialized nations have issued a statement in response to the Taliban’s violation of women’s and girls’ rights, saying the move is isolating Afghanistan.

The foreign ministers of Germany, Britain, France, Canada, Italy, the United States and Japan issued a joint statement calling on the Taliban to lift restrictions on women and girls in Afghanistan and to respect human rights. They have condemned the obstruction of full, equal and real participation of half of the country’s population in society.

The statement stressed that education, public life, freedom of movement and freedom of expression are essential for long-term peace, stability and development.

However, after the fall of the previous Afghan government, the Taliban imposed many restrictions on women and girls in Afghanistan.

In the most recent case, the group made it obligatory for women and girls to wear the hijab in public places.
