US Department of Defense Spokesman: ISIL in Afghanistan threatens our interests

A Pentagon spokesman says ISIL in Afghanistan could threaten US interests.
Pentagon spokesman John Kerby told a news conference last night that the United States was monitoring ISIL’s activities in Afghanistan, saying that the group’s activities and growth, although not at a large level, could threaten US interests.
He said: “Our position is clear and firm that we do not want to see the presence of ISIL again in Afghanistan, especially the Khorasan branch of ISIL, they already existed, but my goal is that you know, ISIL’s ability is such that it threatens our interests.” And we monitor them as closely as we can.
He added: “What we cannot accept is another threat from Afghanistan to our country.” So we will stay focused to make sure we have the capacity to fight them remotely.
This is the second time, however, that the United States has expressed concern about the presence of ISIS in Afghanistan.
Earlier, the director of the US military intelligence service said in an interview that the activities, targeted attacks and the possibility of ISIL infiltrating Afghanistan were worrying.
