Thomas West conveyed the world message to the Taliban about restrictions on women

The US special envoy says he has conveyed a message to the Taliban that the world’s explicit opposition to restrictions on women and girls in Afghanistan.

The US Special Representative for Afghanistan, Thomas West, tweeted that he was strongly opposed to the ongoing and growing restrictions on the rights and role of women and girls in society.

He stressed that girls should return to school, women should move freely and work without restrictions and with normal relationships to progress.

Restrictions on women and girls by the Taliban have been an issue that has provoked strong reactions from the international community.
