The UN Special Rapporteur on Human Rights called for an end to attacks on civilians in Afghanistan

The UN Special Rapporteur on Human Rights has called for an end to the attacks on civilians in Afghanistan.
The UN Special Rapporteur on Human Rights, Richard Bennett, tweeted that he called for an end to the attacks on civilians in Afghanistan and said that the perpetrators of the attacks should be punished.
He tweeted that he had visited the Suhdokan Mosque in Mazar-e-Sharif, the capital of Balkh province, adding that the attack on the mosque showed violence against civilians, especially Hazaras.
The UN Special Rapporteur on Human Rights, who is in an 11-day visit to Afghanistan, continued his tweet by calling for an immediate end to the attacks on civilians.
Mr. Bennett is scheduled to be in Afghanistan until May 26. During his visit, he is scheduled to meet with interim officials and a wide range of Afghan stakeholders to review and assess the human rights situation, including the implementation of international human rights instruments approved by Afghanistan.
He said he would continue to meet with senior Afghan interim officials, representatives of national and international civil society, and members of the diplomatic community, as well as conduct field research to gather first-hand information.
The UN Special Rapporteur on Human Rights added that he would submit his findings to the Human Rights Council and the UN General Assembly.
