The UN Security Council called for an immediate end to the Taliban’s misogynistic policies

The UN Security Council has expressed concern over the situation of women in Afghanistan and called on Taliban officials in Kabul to end restrictions on human and women’s rights as soon as possible.
In a statement issued by the UN Security Council, the 15-member council expressed concern about restrictions on education, employment, freedom of movement, full, equal and meaningful participation of women in public life, and called for a change in restrictive policies.
The council also expressed concern about the Taliban’s order to cover the faces of female presenters on Afghan television and called on the group to open schools for girls in the sixth grade without delay.
The statement also expressed concern about the humanitarian, political, economic, social, security, drug trafficking and terrorist attacks in Afghanistan, targeting civilians, and the need to restore the country’s financial and banking system.
