Richard Bennett called for a thorough investigation into the recent attacks in Kabul and Mazar-e-Sharif

The UN Special Rapporteur on the situation in Afghanistan has expressed concern over the continuing terrorist attacks in the country and called for a full and independent investigation into the recent attacks in Kabul and Mazar-e-Sharif.

The UN Special Rapporteur on Afghanistan, Richard Bennett, tweeted yesterday expressing concern over terrorist attacks on civilians in Afghanistan, saying that at least 16 children had been killed in recent attacks in Kabul and Mazar-e-Sharif.

He went on to tweet that the recent attacks in Kabul and Mazar-e-Sharif and previous attacks require a thorough, independent and well-informed investigation.

Two days ago, Richard Bennett told a news conference that the Taliban-led government had failed to secure Afghanistan and called on the group to live up to its commitments.

He also expressed concern over the economic crisis in Afghanistan and the increase in poverty in the country, and called for continued humanitarian assistance to the people of Afghanistan.
