Human Rights Watch: It is time to impose travel restrictions on Taliban officials

The head of the women’s section at Human Rights Watch says the condemnations are not enough and that it is time to impose travel restrictions on Taliban officials.
“It is not enough to make harsh statements, now is the time to impose travel restrictions on Taliban officials and to independently examine the role of the United Nations in Afghanistan,” Heidar Barr, head of the Human Rights Watch women’s section, tweeted.
Ms. Barr had previously tweeted that it was time for more active and practical measures, including reinstating travel bans for Taliban officials.
He also criticized the international community for its role in preventing human rights abuses in Afghanistan, saying that there was good room for countries to put pressure on the Taliban because of the restrictions they had imposed on women, but he did not think countries would exert pressure.
The Taliban have imposed heavy restrictions on human rights, especially on women and girls, since taking control of Afghanistan.
