Russia and Turkey are keen to invest in Afghanistan’s energy sector

The Afghan Ministry of Water and Energy has announced that Russian and Turkish companies have shown interest in investing in Afghanistan’s energy sector.

Two statements issued by the ministry said that Khamis Mekhyanov, head of the Russian Energy Companies Group and a representative of Amin Electricity Company in Turkey, met with Arefullah Aref, the Taliban Deputy Minister of Energy, to express his interest in investing in the energy production sector in Afghanistan.

The statement added that the head of the group of Russian companies will investe in the implementation of energy production projects from coal resources and the representative of the Turkish company, while expressing willingness to invest in energy production projects in Afghanistan.

Earlier, the Turkish ambassador to Kabul met with the Taliban’s foreign minister and said he was trying to encourage Turkish businessmen to invest in Afghanistan.
