The Taliban welcomed the British opposition to any violence for political change in Afghanistan

The Taliban Foreign Ministry welcomed the British Embassy’s statement that British did not support violence for political change in Afghanistan.

Taliban Foreign Ministry spokesman Abdul Qahar Balkhi issued a statement saying that the Islamic Emirate welcomed the British position of not endorsing the armed opposition of the Afghan government and preferred to engage with the Islamic Emirate.

Hugo Shorter, Chargé d’Affaires of the British Embassy in Afghanistan said in a statement yesterday that his country would not support anyone, including Afghans, seeking political change through violence, saying Britain would not allow its territory to Use violence preparation and it will discourage others from doing so.

He added that in order to promote peace and stability, provide humanitarian assistance to the Afghan people and address common security concerns, we must engage with the current Afghan government.

However, no country has recognized the group since the Taliban came to power.
