Mottaqi went to Qatar to negotiate with US officials

The Taliban Foreign Ministry has announced that the head of the ministry has headed a delegation to Qatar for talks with US officials.

Taliban Foreign Ministry spokesman Abdul Qahar Balkhi tweeted that Acting Minister Amir Khan Mottaqi had traveled to Qatar with representatives of the Ministry of Finance and the Central Bank of Afghanistan and was scheduled to meet with the US State Department Special Representative for Afghanistan.

He added that the focus of the visit will be on both sides to liberalize Afghanistan’s foreign exchange reserves and use them to contain the current crisis in the country.

According to him, the two sides will also discuss Afghanistan’s economic and banking issues.

Earlier, US Special Representative for Afghanistan Thomas West told Afghan businessmen in the United Arab Emirates that Afghanistan’s banking problems would be resolved soon.
