SIGAR: The banking system in Afghanistan is paralyzed

The Office of the Special Inspector General of the United States for the Reconstruction of Afghanistan has emphasized that the Central Bank of Afghanistan is out of order and the banking system in this country is completely paralyzed.

The American special inspector for the reconstruction of Afghanistan (SIGAR) in a tweet, emphasizing that the banking system in Afghanistan is completely paralyzed, said that due to the lack of support from the World Bank, no bank in Afghanistan gives credit to private and small companies.

This organization mentioned the liquidity crisis as the biggest economic challenge in Afghanistan and said that injecting money into Afghan banks is not the solution to this challenge and the activities of banks in this country should be supported.

Sigar suggested that to solve the liquidity crisis in Afghanistan, loans should be given to banks to stimulate the economy.

This is while American officials have recently said that this country is ready to hand over part of Afghanistan’s frozen foreign exchange reserves to a trust fund that will be managed by a third party.
