Karzai: The ban on girls’ education by the Taliban is done at the request of Pakistan

The former president of Afghanistan says that the Taliban have banned the education of girls at the request of Pakistan.
Hamid Karzai, the former president of Afghanistan, said in an interview with the German magazine Spiegel that banning the education of girls is not according to Islamic law.
In this interview, he said: banning girls from going to school is not based on the rules of Islam, but this is done by the order of the neighboring country, Pakistan.
Emphasizing that Pakistan wants Afghanistan to be a defenseless, weak and poor country that does not face any problems, he added: “Without educated women, we are a dead country” and the Taliban cannot take the achievements of the past 20 years from the people.
In the continuation of this interview, he said to the Taliban that if this group seeks to be recognized by the international community, they must respect human rights and the general amnesty order and end internal power struggles.
It is worth mentioning that after coming to power, the Taliban prevented girls’ education and women’s work, and still in most provinces of Afghanistan, girls above the sixth grade are not allowed to go to school.
