Richard Bennett: Violence against women’s protests by the Taliban is a violation of human rights

The United Nations Special Rapporteur on Human Rights for Afghanistan has expressed concern over the violence of the women’s protests in Kabul yesterday by the Taliban.
Richard Bennett, the UN Human Rights Rapporteur for Afghanistan, called the Taliban’s violence against women’s protests in Kabul as a violation of human rights and expressed his concern about it.
He wrote that the Taliban prevented these women from protesting by harassing and firing bullets.
A number of protesting women protested the closure of girls’ schools in Kabul yesterday morning, which ended with aerial shots from the Taliban.
There are reports that 10 journalists and media workers were arrested by the Taliban while covering these protests in Kabul.
Meanwhile, some news sources in Kabul have also confirmed the arrest of these journalists by the Taliban and say that these journalists were arrested while covering women’s street protests against this group.
The Taliban have not said anything about this so far.
