The World Food Program warned of the worsening economic situation in Afghanistan

The head of the World Food Program in Afghanistan has warned of the deterioration of the economic situation in this country and says that tens of millions of people in Afghanistan currently need food aid.

Mary Ellen, the head of the World Food Program in Afghanistan yesterday, in an interview, emphasizing that the World Food Program has helped 20 million people in Afghanistan so far, said that this organization needs world support to provide more help to people of Afghanistan.

According to him, since the Taliban came to power in Afghanistan, the humanitarian crisis in this country has intensified, and currently 22.8 million Afghans, who constitute half of the country’s population, are facing a lack of sufficient food.

The head of the World Food Program in Afghanistan added: The focus of this institution is to help the hungry and it needs 960 million dollars to help them by the end of this year.

Allen added: “Some resources are available and we will receive $100 million for winter aid to remote areas, but we still have a lot of shortfalls. Prioritize where malnutrition has become a major problem.

This is while the United Nations has recently announced that the economic situation in Afghanistan has worsened after the Taliban came to power in Afghanistan.
