Iran’s Foreign Minister: 4.5 million Afghans are refugees in Iran

Iran’s foreign minister has said that currently more than 4.5 million Afghans are refugees in Iran.

Iran’s Foreign Minister Hassan Amir Abdullahian discussed regional developments and bilateral relations with his New Zealand counterpart Nanaya Mahuta.

Iran’s foreign minister said in this conversation that there are currently more than 4.5 million Afghan immigrants in Iran and that the country needs the support of the international community to provide services for these immigrants.

Regarding Afghanistan, he added that the formation of an inclusive government in which all ethnic groups have strong participation can establish peace and stability in Afghanistan.

It should be mentioned that after the fall of the previous government of Afghanistan and the coming to power of the Taliban in this country, thousands of people became refugees to neighboring countries including Iran and Pakistan.

According to reports, most of the Afghans who are immigrants in Iran and Pakistan are in a bad situation.
