International Girls Day; The United Nations demanded the reopening of girls’ schools by the Taliban

The Secretary General of the United Nations, expressing his concern about the deprivation of education for girls in Afghanistan, has asked the Taliban to reopen girls’ schools.

In a message on the occasion of the International Day of the Girl, UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres asked the Taliban to allow girls to continue their education.

He said that the closure of girls’ schools is very harmful for the girls themselves and for the country that needs their energy and participation.

It should be noted that since the Taliban came to power, girls above the sixth grade are not allowed to continue their education in Afghanistan.

Previously, Marks Potzel, the head of the United Nations Deputy Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) said in his report to the Security Council of this organization that the decision to ban girls’ education was made by Mullah Haibatullah, the leader of the Taliban group, and the extremists around him also defend this decision.
