Richard Bennett met with the Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Taliban

The spokesman of the Taliban’s foreign ministry has announced the meeting of the head of the ministry with Richard Bennett, the UN special rapporteur for Afghanistan.

Abdul Qahar Balkhi, the spokesman of the Taliban’s foreign ministry, said in a tweet that Amir Khan Motaghi, the head of the ministry, met with Richard Bennett, the United Nations special rapporteur for Afghanistan, yesterday.

According to him, in this meeting, the Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Taliban assured that warlords, kidnappers and usurpers can no longer violate anyone’s rights.

Mr. Motaghi said: “Amirul Momineen Sahib encourages the officials of the Islamic Emirate through orders and in numerous meetings to treat the people well and give them their rights.”

Richard Bennett, the UN Special Rapporteur on Human Rights for Afghanistan, previously said in a televised interview that Afghanistan is also struggling with a governance crisis in addition to a humanitarian crisis.

In this conversation, he called the violation of human rights, the Taliban’s discriminatory treatment of the people and the financial crisis in Afghanistan as worrying, and added that the Taliban violate women’s rights, do not allow journalists to work freely.
