SIGAR: Half of the Afghan population skips their meals to deal with the crisis

The Office of the US Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction says that nearly half of the Afghan population skips their meals to deal with the crisis.

SIGAR tweeted that nearly half of Afghanistan’s population continues to use crisis coping strategies, such as food rationing or skipping meals, to meet their basic needs.

This institution added that among these, families headed by women are more vulnerable and it is estimated that 96% of them are facing insufficient food consumption amid the Taliban’s restrictions on the movement of women and girls.

SIGAR said that according to the report of the World Food Program, women in Afghanistan sacrifice their meals twice as much as men so that their families can eat.

It should be mentioned that after the Taliban gained power in Afghanistan, international aid to this country was cut off and this caused people to face unemployment, poverty and hunger.
