UNAMA demanded the release of Zarifa Yacoubi and her companions

The United Nations Deputy Mission in Afghanistan has asked the Taliban to release Zarifa Yaqoubi, a women’s rights activist.

UNAMA said that it has spoken with the Taliban about the situation of Zarifa Yaqoubi and four other people who were arrested in Kabul.

This institution added that all Afghans have the fundamental right to peaceful assembly and freedom of speech and opinion without fear and arrest.

Meanwhile, Keren Decker, the head of the US Embassy in Afghanistan, also called for the release of Zarifa Yagoubi and four other activists in a tweet yesterday and said that the United States will never stop supporting women’s rights to live, work and hold peaceful gatherings.

It should be noted that Zarifa Yaqoubi, a women’s rights activist, was arrested by Taliban forces on Thursday during the opening meeting of the women’s movement, along with four others.
