Thomas Nicholson: Afghanistan cannot participate in the UN climate change meeting

The European Union’s special representative for Afghanistan has said that Afghanistan cannot participate in the UN climate change meeting because it does not have an official government.
Thomas Nicholson, the EU Special Representative for Afghanistan wrote in a tweet that Afghanistan cannot participate in the UN climate change meeting because it does not have a legal and official government.
He added that Afghanistan is one of the countries most affected by climate change.
Meanwhile, the Afghan Analysts Association also said in a statement that Afghanistan is expected to be the sixth country affected by climate change, but it is also among the lightest producers of greenhouse gases.
This institution added that, however, this country is not participating in the United Nations Climate Change Conference, which is currently being held in the city of Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt.
During this year, Afghanistan has witnessed more natural disasters such as earthquakes and floods, which caused casualties and huge financial losses to the residents of most of the provinces of this country.
