Hina Rabbani and her delegation met with the Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Taliban

Hina Rabbani, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs of Pakistan and her delegation met with Amir Khan Motaqi, Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Taliban and talked about the expansion of relations between the two countries.

Hafeez Zia Ahmed, Deputy Spokesperson of the Taliban’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs wrote in a tweet that the said delegation was headed by Hina Rabbani Kahar, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, and included other officials, including Mohammad Sadiq Khan, Pakistan’s special representative for Afghanistan, and Obaidur Rahman Nizamani, the Chargé d’Affaires of the Pakistan Embassy in Kabul.

He wrote that in this meeting, Mr. Motaghi asked the Pakistani delegation to release the Afghan prisoners in Pakistan, to facilitate the movement of passengers between the two countries, and to improve and accelerate trade and transit between the two countries.

The Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Taliban has also expressed his readiness to start TAPI, TAP, railway and other big projects.

In this meeting, the Pakistani side made a promise of cooperation regarding the good treatment of Afghan immigrants, ways of commuting, and solving visa problems and added that necessary steps will be taken in order to strengthen and develop trade and transit with Afghanistan.

According to the Deputy Spokesman of the Taliban’s Foreign Ministry, it was agreed in the meeting to create new mechanisms for bilateral cooperation so that all opportunities and common issues can be evaluated through dialogue and for the progress of the work.

At the end of this meeting, both sides have pledged to take useful and positive steps in the future and solve problems.
