The Taliban condemned UNAMA’s announcement to abolish the death penalty in Afghanistan

In response to UNAMA’s announcement requesting the abolition of the death penalty in Afghanistan, the Taliban spokesman condemned it and called it interference in the country’s internal affairs.
Zabihullah Mujahid, the spokesman of the Taliban interim government, wrote in a tweet to UNAMA’s announcement requesting the abolition of the death penalty in Afghanistan that such actions are interference in the internal affairs of countries and are reprehensible.
He wrote: “Unfortunately, a number of countries and institutions still do not have a proper knowledge and understanding of Afghanistan.” “Afghanistan is an Islamic country, more than 99 percent of its people are Muslims and they have made many sacrifices for the implementation of Islamic laws and system.”
Emphasizing that there is death penalty all over the world, even America and Europe, he added that Afghanistan is criticized for implementing Islamic punishment, it is clear that some countries and institutions still have incomplete studies and information in this regard. They have problems with Islam and do not respect the beliefs, laws and internal issues of Muslims.
It should be mentioned that a person was executed yesterday in Farah province by the verdict of the Taliban Supreme Court on charges of murder.
In response to this action by the Taliban, the UNAMA requested the abolition of the death penalty in Afghanistan.
