Foreign Minister of Pakistan: Pakistani Taliban has an active presence on the borders of Afghanistan

Pakistan’s foreign minister has said that the Pakistani Taliban and some other terrorist groups have a safe haven in the border areas of Afghanistan.

Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has said at the United Nations headquarters that the opposition groups of his country, including the Pakistani Taliban, are actively present in the border areas of Afghanistan and Pakistan, and the country has the right to take direct action against them.

Referring to the attack on the military school in Peshawar, he said that this event should have pointed out that the United Nations counter-terrorism mechanism should be effective in dealing with the threat of terrorism that currently originates from Afghanistan.

The foreign minister of Pakistan added that his country expected the interim government of the Taliban in Afghanistan to not allow the Pakistani Taliban to attack Pakistan’s territory according to the Doha agreement.

According to him, the international community should take action to destroy safe havens of terrorists and target the institutions responsible for terrorist attacks.
