OCHA: Fear of arrest and deportation prevents immigrants from seeking help

The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs in Afghanistan (OCHA) has said that thousands of Afghans are migrating to neighboring countries in search of a better life.

Ocha wrote in a tweet that thousands of Afghans migrate to neighboring cities in search of security and a better life, and the fear of arrest and deportation prevents them from seeking life-saving help.

This institution added that in order to build trust and improve the safety of migrants in vulnerable situations, their rights must be respected.

Earlier, Filippo Grandi, the head of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, expressed concern about the bad situation in Afghanistan and said that the number of people who intend to leave Afghanistan has increased.

Emphasizing that humanitarian aid cannot save Afghanistan’s economy, Grandi said that about 23 million people in Afghanistan are suffering from severe hunger.
