Guterres asked the Taliban to stop terrorist activities in Afghanistan

The Secretary General of the United Nations asked the caretaker government of the Taliban to stop terrorist activities from Afghanistan.
Antonio Guterres, the Secretary-General of the United Nations, said today in a meeting at the United Nations headquarters that the current government of Afghanistan is obliged to stop any terrorist activities from this country against the countries of the region, including Pakistan.
He added that the United Nations has communicated with the leaders of the Taliban in order to stop the activities of terrorist groups in Afghanistan.
Three days ago, Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said that the opposition groups of his country, including the Pakistani Taliban, are actively present in the border areas of Afghanistan and Pakistan, and that his country has the right to take direct action against them.
The foreign minister of Pakistan added that his country expected the interim government of the Taliban in Afghanistan to not allow the Pakistani Taliban to attack Pakistan’s territory according to the Doha agreement.
According to him, the international community should take action to destroy safe havens of terrorists and target the institutions responsible for terrorist attacks.
