Turkey and Saudi Arabia condemned the closure of universities to girls by the Taliban

The foreign ministries of Turkey and Saudi Arabia have condemned the closure of universities to girls by the Taliban in Afghanistan in separate announcements.

In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkey reacted to the suspension of university courses for girls in Afghanistan and expressed its concern and regret.

The ministry added that in Afghanistan, in accordance with the wishes of the people, recognizing the right to education for girls without exception is important for the prosperity and future of the country.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkey asked the officials of the Taliban government to reconsider the decision to close universities to girls.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Saudi Arabia has also reacted to the closing of universities to girls in Afghanistan and said that it is surprised and sorry that Afghan women are denied university education.

According to the announcement of this ministry, this decision of the Taliban has caused surprise in all Islamic countries.

It should be mentioned that two days ago, based on an order from the Ministry of Higher Education of the caretaker government of the Taliban, all private and public universities in Afghanistan were closed to girls and women, which brought strong reactions from the international community.
