The Taliban signed a contract with China for the extraction of oil in the Amu Sea basin

The Ministry of Mines and Petroleum of the Taliban signed a contract with a Chinese company today (Thursday) to extract oil in the Amur Sea Basin.

Zabihullah Mujahid, the spokesman of the caretaker government of the Taliban, wrote in a tweet that according to this contract, oil extraction will take place from an area of 4,500 square kilometers located between the provinces of Sarpol, Jawzjan and Faryab.

Mr. Mujahid added that the amount of daily oil extraction will be from 1000 to 20000 tons and according to the signed contract, the Chinese company will invest 150 million dollars in one year and 540 million dollars in the next 3 years.

According to him, following this project, about three thousand Afghans will find employment.

The Taliban spokesperson said that the duration of this contract will be 25 years, if the Chinese company does not fulfill all the things mentioned in the contract within one year, this contract with the said company will be terminated.
