UNAMA deputy to Taliban: Afghanistan is entering a new period of crisis

The Deputy Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary General has said in a meeting with Nada Mohammad Nadim, Acting Minister of Higher Education of the Taliban, that Afghanistan is entering a new period of crisis.

Marks Potzel, UNAMA’s deputy, said in this meeting that the Taliban’s ban on women’s education and their work in charitable institutions harms all Afghans and these bans must be immediately lifted.

Two days ago also, in a meeting with Maulvi Abdul Kabir, the Deputy Prime Minister of the Taliban, the Deputy Representative of the Secretary General of the United Nations said that the denial of the rights of Afghan women harms all Afghans and vital humanitarian aid is also disrupted.

In this meeting, Mr. Potzel called for the cancellation of the ban on women’s education and work and added that by canceling these bans, further economic losses and isolation of Afghanistan will be prevented.
