Thomas West spoke to Pakistani officials about the situation in Afghanistan

The US Special Representative for Afghanistan Affairs, in a meeting with the Pakistan Army Commander and other officials of this country, talked about the recent decisions of the Taliban to ban the work and education of women.

Thomas West, the US special representative for Afghanistan affairs, met with General Syed Asim Munir, the chief of staff of the Pakistani army, and other senior government officials of that country in Islamabad.

The US Special Representative for Afghanistan Affairs said in a tweet that “terrorism and the security situation” and “the dangerous effect of the Taliban’s orders on the access of millions of Afghans to vital aid and education” were discussed in these meetings.

Mr. West added that he also met with Afghan women in Islamabad and asked the international community to prioritize the needs of female heads of households in Afghanistan.
