Taliban have collected 82 thousand drug addicts in the country so far

The Taliban’s Ministry of Interior says that so far 82 thousand drug addicts have been collected from the city level in the provinces and 28 thousand of them have been treated.

In a news conference, the spokesman of the ministry, Abdul Nafi Takour, said that since this group came to power in Afghanistan, 82,000 drug addicts have been collected from all over the country, of which about 26,800 were from Kabul.

He said: “Since the re-establishment of the Islamic Emirate, 82,000 drug addicts from all over the country have been collected, including 26,850 people in Kabul province.”

Dr. Sharaf Zaman, the spokesperson of the Ministry of Public Health, also said in this news conference that there are currently 3.6 million drug addicts in the country, of which 2.9 percent are women and children.

According to him, currently 2,500 health personnel in 60 hospitals and health centers are treating addicts and 28,564 addicts have been treated and 22,458 are undergoing treatment.
