Taliban announced efforts to reopen Torkham crossing

Local officials in Nangarhar say that talks are ongoing with Pakistani officials to reopen the Torkham crossing.

The Department of Information and Culture of Nangarhar Province has published a statement saying that a high-ranking delegation headed by the Acting Minister of Borders, Tribes is talking with Pakistani officials at the Torkham crossing and it is expected that this crossing will be opened for traffic today.

It should be noted that the Torkham crossing was closed to traffic on Monday due to the conflict between the border forces of the Taliban and Pakistan, and yesterday the Taliban officials announced the opening of this crossing, but on the same day it was closed again by Pakistan.

The crossing was opened to traffic on Thursday after Pakistan’s defense minister traveled to Kabul at the head of a delegation and met with Taliban officials.
