The United Nations demanded the immediate release of civil activists from Taliban prison

Richard Bennett, the United Nations Special Rapporteur for Afghanistan, once again demanded the immediate release of Narges Sadat, Zakaria Usoli and Ismail Meshaal, who have been detained by the Taliban in Kabul for the past two months.

Expressing his concern about arbitrary arrests of civil activists by the Taliban, he wrote in a tweet: “I repeat my request for their immediate and unconditional release.”

Author and researcher Zakaria Usoli, university professor Ismail Mashal and women’s rights activist Narges Sadat have all been arrested by the Taliban in the past two months in Kabul.

Richard Bennett had previously asked the Taliban to release the civil activists imprisoned by this group.
