OCHA: The income of 80% of families in Afghanistan has decreased

The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) says that the income of 80% of families in Afghanistan has decreased.

OCHA wrote in a tweet that the deteriorating economy in Afghanistan has caused a sharp decrease in income, increased family debt and unemployment.

This institution added that 80% of families across Afghanistan have experienced a decrease in income.

According to the report of this bureau, the debt of each Afghan family has increased from 9,770 Afghanis equivalent to 114 dollars in 2019 to 59,492 Afghanis equivalent to 687 dollars in 2022.

OCHA previously said in a report that the poverty rate in Afghanistan has increased by 50% in the last three years.

This organization called the decrease in income, unemployment and increase in rates among the factors of increasing poverty in Afghanistan and added that the rate of poverty in this country has increased from 47% to 97%.
