John Egeland: 28 million people in Afghanistan urgently need help

The 28 million Afghans in urgent need of aid are increasingly being neglected, says Norwegian Refugee Council Secretary General John Egeland.

He wrote in a tweet that there is an urgent need for political and human rights developments in Afghanistan for women to resume diplomatic engagement with major donors based on humanitarian principles in Afghanistan.

It should be mentioned that recently the United Nations Office of the Coordinator of Humanitarian Affairs in Afghanistan has requested more than 370 million dollars to provide non-food aid to the needy people in this country.

Ocha wrote in a tweet that decades of conflict and natural disasters have led to the need for shelter for around 9.7 million people in Afghanistan, and the United Nations is working to provide shelter to this number of people.

This institution added that 374 million dollars is needed in 2023 to protect and provide shelter and support humanitarian non-food items.
