Thomas West considered the reports of a decline in poppy cultivation in Afghanistan to be credible

Thomas West, the US special representative for Afghanistan affairs, has called the reports about the reduction of drug cultivation in Afghanistan credible and important.
He wrote in a tweet that the reports of a significant decrease in opium poppy production due to the implementation of Taliban policies this year are valid and important.
Mr. West added that every country, in the region and beyond, has common interests in a drug-free Afghanistan.
It should be mentioned that two days ago, a British research organization called Elsis claimed that poppy cultivation in Helmand province has decreased significantly.
Citing satellite images, this institution added that the Taliban have been more than 99% successful in combating drug cultivation in Helmand province.
