Ministry of Public Works: More than 780 kilometers of roads are being reconstructed

Officials of the Ministry of Public Works say that currently more than 780 kilometers of roads are being reconstructed across the country.

Maulvi Abdul Karim Fata, Deputy Technical Director of the Ministry of Public Works, said in a news conference that during the past year, the reconstruction of 781 kilometers of the country’s important highways has been started.

He added that last year, 125 constructions, maintenance and monitoring projects, goods and services worth 421 million Afghanis were implemented across the country, as a result of which 10 thousand people were directly provided with work.

According to the officials of this ministry, last year, the repair and reconstruction of the 153-meter Bagh bridge on the Kandahar-Herat road worth 400,000 US dollars was completed and put into operation, as well as the reconstruction of Sheikh Abu Nasr Farahi road in two parts.

Officials of the Ministry of Public Works add that laboratories were activated in 5 zones of the country last year, which currently; Bitumen, cement, soil, concrete, sand, stone and other building materials are tested.
