Japan donated 10 million dollars for continuing education of children in Afghanistan

The United Nations Children’s Protection Organization (UNICEF) has announced that Japan has donated 10 million US dollars to support the continuation of children’s education in Afghanistan.

UNICEF said in a statement that 60% of girls and 46% of boys are currently not attending any educational level in Afghanistan, and with this help, it is expected that 71,500 children will continue to study in this country.

This organization added that with this help, the educational environments for 55 thousand children in public central schools will be improved based on the needs of special schools, and 16 thousand and 500 children will continue to study at the community level for another two years.

“Not only do we want to see every child in school, but we also want to foster and facilitate continuous learning in both formal and informal community-based settings and access to quality education,” said Fran Ekiza, UNICEF Representative in Afghanistan. “Each learning environment should be safe, equipped with textbooks and supplies for students and teachers, and led by qualified male and female teachers.”

According to UNICEF’s report, Japan has previously supported UNICEF’s efforts to build water and sanitation facilities, provide vaccines, and improve children’s nutrition.
