Abbas Stanekzai met with the deputy of UNAMA

Sher Mohammad Abbas Stanekzai, the political deputy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, met Marks Putzel, the deputy of UNAMA and his accompanying delegation.

Hafiz Zia Ahmed, Deputy Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs wrote in a tweet that political issues, banking restrictions, prohibition of drug cultivation and trafficking and issues related to climate change were discussed in this meeting.

The political deputy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in this meeting: “We want to close the war season in Afghanistan and open a new chapter of diplomatic relations with the world in order to solve the existing problems through dialogue. At the same time, we also expect the opposite parties to have the same behavior.”

He added that the level of poppy cultivation in Afghanistan has reached zero, the rehabilitation of drug addicts has started, and serious measures are being taken with buyers and sellers, and the Islamic Emirate considers this initiative a joint task.

Mr. Stanekzai asked the deputy of UNAMA not to hesitate from their aid to support farmers by providing an alternative for poppy cultivation, to remove bank restrictions.

At the end of this meeting, Marcus Potzel said that UNAMA is trying to create a basis for international cooperation with Afghanistan and pledged to cooperate with the Islamic Emirate.
