Richard Bennett demanded an explanation from the Taliban for banning women from going to Band e Amir

Richard Bennett, the UN Special Rapporteur for Afghanistan, has reacted to the Taliban’s new order banning women from going to Amir Dam.

In a tweet, he asked for an explanation regarding the new order of the Ministry of Prosperity and Prohibition of Prosperity of the Taliban that women are not allowed to visit the Amir Dam in Bamyan Province and said why this restriction is necessary for women to visit the Band e Amir to comply with Sharia and Afghan culture?

Recently, Maulvi Khaled Hanafi, Acting Minister of Righteousness and Forbiddenness of the Taliban, during his trip to Bamyan province, in a meeting with religious scholars, said that until the “Principles” are prepared, women are not allowed to go to Band e amir National Park.

He stated that the reason for this order was women’s non-observance of the hijab and said in his speech: “It is a mistake to test the tested, we endured for two years, but the women did not observe the hijab.”
